| Better Journalism |
|
I was recently discussing with a friend the pitfalls of modern journalism.
One example of this is the way that most news is simply regenerated from someone else’s story. There is such pressure to find that “exclusive’ story that no-one else has, that it becomes necessary to twist the truth or make nothing into something, just to get that scoop.
This was a major reason that I steered myself away from a full-time career in journalism.
Journalism has lost credibility in the eyes of the public.
This could be a great opportunity for aspiring writers to produce unique and truthful stories.
People are ready for authentic news, rather than regenerated untruths.
Honesty in writing is underrated, but will be appreciated.
