The End of the Blog as We Know it?
So it has begun.
People are being hired and fired over blogs.
The Bloggers Blog web-site has a large section of blogs devoted to stories of people who have been fired by their employers for a range of offences, including reading blogs and using their employers name or providing details about their respective companies in the blog.
Too be honest, it does seem to be plain common sense to not reveal a companies secrets, or even implicate a separate professional corporation in something written for personal reasons.
Still, the question to be asked is when does it cross the path into the ridiculous?
Has blogging entered into the world of excessive political correctness, creating something akin to fear in the heart of every writer, who will soon be too scared to write anything worthwhile for worry about who might be waiting to begin some sort of legal dispute over it?
I’m not really surprised. If McDonalds has been sued for making people fat, then I suppose, when it comes to blogging, or any kind of writing that is going to offer an opinion or a statement, anything is possible. |
